What's in a name? That which we call a theme bar by any other name would smell as sweet. Because the award-winning Angels and Kings is not a theme bar, not quite, not really, though its faux-roadhouse vibe comes perilously close at times. What saves it is a good dose of atmosphere that and a decent sense of humour plus a dash of self-awareness. Owned in part by Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, the Chicago outpost of the New York original has become deservedly popular for its music: live band karaoke is a favourite and they host a varied line up of DJ nights. The walls are splashed with photos of rock and roll heroes Janis, Ozzy and so forth there's plenty of booth and bench seating, and a huge gong hangs behind the bar. The place is invariably buzzing and raucous, packed with people out to have a good time something the bar usually delivers.
