The delectable new Champagne Bar at Harvey Nichols is modeled on Emile Gallé's iconic Belle ßpoque Champagne bottle. Based on the fifth floor of the glamorous Knightsbridge department store, the bar is the work of top designer Shaun Clarkson (the chap behind the Pigalle Club) and the results are pretty, witty and elegant, decorated in a palette of pastel colours. There are photographic prints on the walls and a striking green design on the ceiling. The space is bright and airy and practically begs you to take a break from the tiresome grind of buying pretty things, put up your Louboutin heels and order a flute of fizz. The bar stocks rare vintages as well as more reasonably priced varieties and they mix a memorable cocktail, our favourite being the Champagne Christophe, a blend of bubbly, eau de vie de poire and cassis.
