About Le Bar de L'Hotel
Famous as the place where Oscar Wilde breathed his last, this romantic Parisian hotel is worth a visit for more than just its literary connections. One of the most atmospheric places to stay on the Left Bank, it's both idiosyncratic and opulent. Tucked away down the gallery-peppered rue des Beaux Arts, the hotel's bar is a Louis XIVth-styled wonder, stuffed with plush velvet chairs. The cocktail list is enticingly extensive, with Wilde, perhaps predictably, getting a drink named in his honour, and there are plenty of fresh juices and virgin mixes listed for those who feel the need to abstain though we can't see the great man approving of such a notion.
