If you’re a parent, you know that no Holiday weekend can be complete without a good old Christmas movie viewing session, at least as far as your children are concerned.
You also know that some of these movies will always and forever be part of their rotation, no matter how many times they (and you…) have already watched them.
This time around, why not upgrade the experience with an extra shot of magic and cheer?
We’ve got your back with these 3 delicious, easy to make cocktail recipes that should do just the trick. You can thank us later.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Candy Cane Martini
We turned the classic red-and-white striped Christmas candy into a deliciously sweet, minty and chocolaty cocktail that’s sure to warm up even the Grinch’s cold, cold heart.
Rim a chilled Martini glass with crushed candy cane, pour in a few drops of grenadine and set aside.
Combine 1 1/4 oz vanilla vodka, 1 1/4 oz white crème de cacao and 3/4 oz peppermint schnapps into a shaker with ice.
Shake until very cold.
Gently pour into your Martini glass with the grenadine at the bottom for a beautiful gradient effect, garnish with a whole candy cane and enjoy.
Frozen – Elsa’s Blue Margarita
As far as Frozen goes, you’re probably praying for the day your kids will be ready to “Let It Go”. In the meantime, your trusted blender is your best ally.
For 4 servings:
First rim 4 chilled cocktail glasses with a lime slice and salt.
Combine 4 oz silver tequila, 2 oz blue curaçao, 2 1/2 oz lime juice (from about 4 or 5 limes), and 1/4 to 1/2 cup agave nectar or simple syrup in a blender with 3 cups ice.
Blend on the highest setting until completely smooth.
Pour in your 4 salt-rimmed cocktail glasses, garnish with lime wheels and serve immediately.
Home Alone – White Russian Ice Cream Sundae
Our grown-up version of Kevin McCallister’s glorious, towering ice cream sundae makes for an extra indulgent boozy treat.
Combine 1 2/3 oz vodka and 2/3 oz coffee liqueur into an ice-filled old fashioned glass, float 1oz heavy cream on top, and stir slowly. Set aside.
Place 3 scoops of your ice cream of choice – vanilla, chocolate or coffee work best – in a bowl or mug. Strain your White Russian over the ice cream and go crazy with the garnishes! Cherries, warm chocolate sauce, whipped cream, graham crackers, marshmallows, sprinkles… or all the above ;).
