Home of one of the world’s most exciting bar scenes, Seoul very much epitomizes the motto “work hard, play harder”.
French restaurateur Luc Sananes and Ballantine’s take us on a bar-hopping journey to discover the best bars in the capital – and sample delicious whisky cocktails in the process.
Starting at Pussyfoot Saloon, a gorgeous train-themed venue in Myeondong that transports us back to a vintage world of first-class travels, we then head over to Gangnam‘s Le Chamber, an elegant lounge hidden behind a magical bookcase, where Luc is joined by two local friends who walk him through the ins and outs of Korean drinking culture.
A quick bite, a few beers and a short night’s sleep later, it’s time for day 2. We follow Luc to trendy Euljiro to discover another hidden gem called Jean Frigo, set in a traditional Korean house accessible through a fridge inside a grocery store.
After finishing things off on a mouthwatering note at the food market, one thing is for sure: if Seoul wasn’t already in your bucket list, it will be now.
