At the end of a slinky wooden walkway on the Algarve coast, you will find a futuristic-looking round structure seemingly out of place with its seaside surroundings. While first impressions may be befuddling, upon further inspection, Vapor Restaurant and Beach Bar reveals itself as one of the most stylish and sleek venues anywhere in Portugal – or Europe for that matter. Portuguese actor Pedro Teixeira is one of the space’s signature investors, and one step inside this restaurant and bar designed by the world-renowned Joana Astolfi and you’ll feel like an A-lister yourself. Located on an especially tranquil stretch of beach, Vapor has already become one of the places to see and be seen on the Portuguese coast. The decor is completely modern, heavy on glass, whites, light woods, and curves, but with a cheeky nod to its seaside location in the light fixtures wrapped in fishing nets. Vapor has been designed to blend in with the beach, as the first floor, which is dedicated to dining, has large sliding walls, which allow cooling breezes to make their way inside in summer. It is on the second floor – atop a curvaceous staircase – where the libations and nightlife take center stage, with a breathtaking 360 degree view of the beach and surrounding dunes. The cocktails at the beach bar are crafted by highly-skilled bartenders who, in between shaking drinks, often find themselves opening bottles of champagne for a crowd who certainly knows how to appreciate the finer things in life.
