The name might be peculiar but it’s worth wrapping your tongue around it as this is a highly stylish little place. On a corner of the Vijzelstraat, near the Pathé cinema, Feijoa is a must-visit for cocktail fans. They take their drinks seriously here. Feijoa is a fruit that flourishes in South America and New Zealand and it crops up on the ingredients list of some of their more inventive concoctions. While the guys behind the bar are more than happy tackling the classics, they also have strong creative streak and some of the drinks feature everything from cucumber to balsamic vinegar as well as the eponymous fruit. The décor is appealingly eclectic, with lots of antique lamps and black and white photos on the walls, while the space is on the small side. But if you care about your cocktails you can’t afford to miss this place.
