The Gin & Tonic Bar at Foodhallen
May 11, 2018
The gin and tonic is undergoing something of a resurgence in Amsterdam. Next time you visit De Foodhallen, the drinking and dining space at De Hallen, the recently renovated streetcar depot which has become something of a cultural hotspot; skip the wine and beer options and make a beeline towards their stylish gin and tonic bar.
It’s a snazzy space, no doubt, but they know their stuff and offer up a rock solid list of gin and tonics served Spanish style in fish bowl glasses with garnishes and mixers tailored to the gin in question. The Bulldog with grapefruit and lychee is a good starting point as is the V2C Orange which mixes the subtly spicy V2C Dutch Dry Gin – made in Holland –with an orange slice and ginger.
The whole experience is pretty cool, the indoor market place large, light and high ceilinged, the atmosphere hip and buzzing and the gin and tonic impeccably mixed.
