In de Wildeman
May 11, 2018
Housed in an old distillery right in the centre of town, In de Wildeman is one of the best beer bars in Amsterdam. The signage and some of elements of the interior are in keeping with the building’s past, walls cluttered with memorabilia, a black and white chequered floor, a veneer of age. But it’s the beer people flock here for though, not the design, with some18 beers on tap and a further 250 bottled beers available. Your biggest hurdle will be choosing where to start. There’s no particular speciality, instead the selection roams across Europe and beyond with beers from Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, and America. There’s usually a least one English Ale, one German and one American beer on tap. That said the main focus is on Dutch and Belgian beers, with a number of beers from Trappist breweries and local Dutch brewers on offer. If you’re having trouble choosing you could opt for the ß-Beer of the Monthß- for the bar’s own selection, They have recently expanded their selection to include several bottled ciders if you want a break from beer (but if you’re drinking here chances are that’s unlikely). The crowd is a nice mix of locals and tourists all united by their love of beer.
