2b Lounge Bar
May 11, 2018
A stylish bar in the basement level of the Renaissance Hotel is a lovely, tranquil place, a chic escape from the cacophony of nearby Damrak, Spuistraat and Centraal station. It’s a stylish room all rust, mustard and amber with curved, cushion be-decked sofas and a slightly retro air – yet never so busy you can’t snag a seat of an evening making it the perfect place to kick back after a day’s shopping or sightseeing and indulge in a drink or two. They stock a decent range of wine and the cocktail menu includes original creations like the rum-based Caribbean Flash or more classic cocktails like the potent Hemingway Daiquiri, another rum number. Chilled beats play in the background and the bar serves a range of tasty finger food and bar snacks suitable for sharing if you fancy a bite to eat with your cocktail. It’s not the snazziest bar in the city and suffers from that faint air of anonymity that characterises a lot of hotel bars which are part of international chains the sense you could be in any city in the world but it’s smart, comfortable and makes a pleasant pit stop in a touristy part of town. You could do worse than kick-off your weekend with one of their FAB Fridays.
