One of the best known ‘grand cafes’ in Amsterdam, Café Luxembourg boasts everything one would expect from such a place: elegant décor, nattily-attired waiters, slightly aloof service, and a heady aroma of coffee, wine, cigar smoke and newsprint. Huge plates of food make it a local favourite, not to mention an abundance of Dutch Beer. It’s ideal for lingering into the evening and discussing life’s rich tapestry (or maybe just, you know, the latest exploits of Brangelina and offspring). Unlike some places in town, it’s not overrun with tourists and you can dine outside when the weather allows.
