This hipster brunch spot, G’s also known as the Really Nice Place – is open Saturdays and Sundays for daytime dining and also serves a selection of cocktails for those who like their lunch on the boozy side. The drinks list features classic daytime tipples like the Bloody Mary (with or without an oyster on the side) and the Mimosa. But it also features more original drinks like the Morning Wood (ahem), a thrilling mix of vodka and fizz, or the sweet, smooth passion fruit-laced Passion in the Morning. Their bourbon and peanut butter milkshake is an artery furring delight, a meal in itself, and they do other less tipsy milkshakes though the option to add a shot of rum is always available should you want it – and you should really try the challah cinnamon French toast. Or the eggs. These guys do seriously good eggs. The bar is also open in the evenings if you fancy drinking in more traditional circumstances, throwing open its doors on Thursdays and Fridays and serving a list of Prohibition-era inspired drinks, like the classic Old Fashioned and the potent Dark ‘n’ Stormy alongside a Negroni and a Corpse Reviver #2. The décor is a little bit kitsch, a little bit cool, avant garde photography on the wall and a whole heap of chintz.
