Bickers aan de Werf

The outdoor deck is the probably the biggest draw at Bickers aan de Werf, though it’s a place with lots to recommend it. With its view of the water and its scattering of wooden tables and chairs, it has a pleasant vacation-y vibe, this deck, and makes a great place to sit and sip when the sun is high. The bar itself is a bright and airy glass box of a building, a proper sun trap, contemporary, stylish and light. Inside, tree trunks, lots of warm reclaimed wood, fresh flowers and other bits of greenery give the space a slightly rustic feel and soften the rather hard glass corners of the building. It makes for a lovely retreat from the buzz and bustle of the city centre, even though you’re barely half a kilometre away from the very middle of things. Grab a beer in the afternoon or enjoy a long leisurely lunch. They do a nice range of salads and light bites, a decent afternoon tea as well as a good array of beer and wine.
