Salmuera – on bustling Rozengracht – blends craft cocktails and Latin American flavours. Mezcal is a big deal here. These boasting more bottles of the smoky Mexican spirit than any other bar in the city, and they know how they use it. It features in nearly all cocktails on their list. There are M&T’s – mezcal and tonics – and more complex drinks like the Serenata, a floral blend of mezcal, Chartreuse, elderflower, lime and lavender topped with froth. If you want something with a little more punch, the Paloma blends mezcal with lime, agave, grapefruit, sparkling soda, and a spicysalty rim. The Santana Sazerac is the bomb, a potent mix of mezcal, whisky, agave and bitters are all served in a mason jar filled with applewood and cinnamon smoke. The presentation is superb and the smoke really enhances the drink. If you’re spending any time here you’ll want to explore their food menu too – there are some real treats in there.
