Bar Oldenhof is like a small slice of the past. Behind the bar there lies a huge selection of single malt Scottish whiskies.

Bar Oldenhof in the Jordaan district is a world away from the average Amsterdam brown café. It’s like a small slice of the past. and it has something of a bar from the Jazz Age about it. It has a distinctly Bohemian air about it, which makes one feel like a fugitive from the drabness of the modern world. Run by the Oldenhof brothers, the handsome, low-lit bar is furnished with smart leather arm-chairs, a fireplace, acres of velvet and wood and, the piece de resistance, a piano. It’s clubby, warm and and above all welcoming. Behind the bar there lies a huge selection of single malt Scottish whiskies and many of the classic cocktails on offer use whisky to good effect. Appropriately enough they make a top notch Old Fashioned. Their house special, The Hoff, is also a popular concoction. Service is similarly sophisticated and they really know how to put their visitors at their ease. They also stock a range of craft beers and a wide selection of premium spirits. All of which makes the place feel like a haven from the busy bustling world outside, a place of sanctuary and calm, where you can sit and sip your drink long into the evening. As a point of interest, Bar Oldenhof is apparently the first ever crowd-funded bar in the Netherlands too
