Amsterdam-Old City Centre

Not far from the popular In De Wildeman, Cafe Belgique, as the name might already have told you, is focused on the beers from the Low Countries. It’s a lovely spot, all cosy and candlelit, with a cluster of little tables around which to sit, loads of beer posters on the wall and bright red awnings. The atmosphere is very Amsterdam, in the best sense; get a window-side table and watch the world go by or congregate by the bar. Which you’ll want to do as the list of beers here is a treat; the bar boasts a painstakingly put together collection of rotating beers, including the new craft breweries making waves on the Belgian beer scene as well as a few of Amsterdam’s own craft brews. Order a glass of cherry flavoured Kriek or one of their Trappist beers and settle in for the night. It can get pretty packed on here on weekend nights, so arrive early if you want to be sure of a table.
