Amsterdam-Old City Centre

A modern and trendsetting take on tapas in Amsterdam, Pikoteo has quickly become a player on this city’s emerging restaurant scene.
Located near former industrial docks, Pikoteo delights the eyes before you even enter its doors. Part of the venue lies in a glass-enclosed space, and this room juts out to the street, putting colorful chairs, hanging greens, and vibrant mosaic-inspired floor tiles on full display, immediately letting you know that you’re in for a treat. Inside, the theme continues with a sea green ceiling, light woods, and a bar encircled by a kaleidoscopic collection of chairs. Oh, and there’s also an upside-down black pig serving as a funky light fixture.
Yes, Pikoteo is bound to put you in a chipper mood, and the good times continue to roll as you peruse the tapas menu. The menu playfully mixes flavours from Asia and Iberia, resulting in truly special plates like Tuna in the Cloud (tuna tartare with hints of yuzu, wasabi, soja and tobiko), Scallop Ceviche featuring yuzu & avocado, and Pulpo with kimchi & celeriac. We are crazy for the cocktail card though, as it is surely one of the most inventive in the city, blending Spain’s longdrink culture with on-trend tipples. A couple of our favorites are the Paloma’s X Diablo – premium tequila, crème de cassis, ginger, lemon, salt, and grapefruit juice – and the New York Flipped – premium bourbon, ruby port, sabayon, nutmeg and sugar. In addition, cocktail specials (often featuring sherry and vermouth) are always being whipped up, and they are poured alongside sensational house sangria, an impressive wine and spirits list, and a collection of craft beer.
