Laid back to the point of horizontality, this admirable lounge bar takes up a Greek island theme and it does so with great panache. Drawing a loyal, largely gay crowd, one notes with appreciation that it has no telephone and the music is played softly enough for you to chat on the comfortable couches and at cosy dark tables. Owner and occasional artist Alekos ( “Alexos” is the greek diminutive of ‘Alexander) is more than welcoming to people of all stripes and if you ask him to mix you one of his favourite drinks, you’ll be friends for life. What’s more, you’ll have an excellently mixed drink. He has a surprisingly large repertoire and we urge you to try his thoroughly delicious apple martini. Top tip: praise one of his paintings which hang on the wall. Don’t forget that you’re slap bang in the middle of fashionable Kolonaki which boasts a wealth of lively locales.
