A self-described ‘all-day’ bar, The Clumsies is the brilliant brainchild of two world class Greek bartenders who teamed up to combine their unique pouring and people skills, creating something truly special in their nation’s capital along the way. The Clumsies takes the all-day bar mantra seriously, as the interior of the bar was designed to be bathed in natural light, with light woods, whites, and turquoise fixtures accentuating the light and airy feel, making enjoying a casual drink in the afternoon – or before noon for that matter – feel completely natural. As the day progresses and changes into evening, the mood changes with it to become a little more on the sophisticated side, when a cocktail list you would expect from champion bartenders takes center stage. The Clumsies may be the nickname that the those two bartenders gave themselves, but there is absolutely nothing bumbling about the drinks on offer. Two cases in point are the Chilli Con Melon – premium tequila, mezcal, melon, sage, and a smoked chipotle – and the Gizmo – bourbon, pink grapefruit, sherry, and dried olive leaves – which will both have your tongue tied with delight. Throw in an already legendary private – and by reservation only – imbibing room complete with bookcase, billiard table, old school records, and a crackling fireplace reminiscent of a hidden parlour room, and you have an instant Greek classic.
