The address is West Peachtree but the entrance is 6th Street and you’ll be rather glad you’ve found it. The door may be relatively unmarked and anonymous, but once you have managed to make your way inside you’ll find yourself in an opulent, stylish setting. With décor and design as head-spinning and daring as the imaginative drinks menu, it’s a hip ‘Midtown’ spot for laid back suits and sultry southern belles here to see and be seen. Located in the basement of the Prohibition-era Biltmore hotel, Halo is an award winning location that transports New York City cool to the South, and it’s hardly surprising that it’s now one of the city’s hottest destinations. The back-lit onyx bar is a real talking point: it’s long, narrow and white and glows in various shades of red, blue and yellow. Large blown-glass light fixtures bathe the crowd in a golden glow while concrete walls and stairs of blue offset the pink of the plastic retro chairs at the tables. A glass wall behind the bar shows off the two-level lounge behind where DJs spin groovy tunes to fun-loving flirters sipping cocktails or shots. Weekdays are good for intimate chat in the cool setting, but weekends give way to a loud, proud, designer crowd who look even better than normal in all this flattering lighting. Note the dress code isn’t super strict, but avoid athletic gear or ultra-casual attire, or they may not let you in. With a night out this decadent you may feel anything angelic, but if you find your halo slips a little, we promise won’t tell.
