Late Night Drinking
May 11, 2018
Austin’s Half Step is the kind of place where the bartenders are more than happy to engage in conversation, to talk you through the menu and explain what goes into an Old-Fashioned and why. They make exemplary craft cocktails, some of the best in town, but are also welcoming and approachable to the casual cocktail drinker. It’s a handsome venue, dimly lit and cosy, boasting a familiar but no less appealing mix of white tile and new and vintage furniture. There’s a table service area so you can sit down and savour your drink, but also a standard bar area with a sleek stainless steel counter well stocked with fresh ingredients, fruits, herbs and house made syrups, as well as a snazzy ice machine. The Floradora, a mix of gin, lime and raspberry is a zingy little drink, but you won’t go far wrong letting the bartender whip you up something special.
