22 Kitchen & Bar

With an interior reminiscent of a sleek coastal retreat, you wouldn’t guess that 22 Kitchen and Bar is actually located on the upper reaches of the Dusit Thani Hotel in bustling Bangkok. Well, unless you glimpsed out of the panoramic cityscape windows, that is. The color scheme of turquoise, cream and polished woods feels more ‘Bora Bora’ than ‘Bangkok’ and there’s a reason for that – the restaurant menu is Pacific-inspired, drawing inspiration from the cuisines of Hawaii, Japan, China and Peru.
22 Kitchen and Bar is headed up by a Hawaiian chef, and it shows in the beautifully-presented plates of seafood (mussels, butterfish, snapper and lobster all feature on the a la carte menu) and at the “raw bar”, where oysters and ceviche are dished out with gusto. Meat lovers needn’t fear, however, as wagyu beef and grilled leg of lamb are also prominent on the menu, along with some delectable fusion desserts (miso butterscotch, anyone?). When it comes to the drinks, 22 Kitchen and Bar’s cocktail list features classics, along with some unique concoctions like the Passionate Thunderball (gold tequila, passionfruit and chilli) and an impressive range of premium spirits, displayed across the width of the long inlaid wooden bar. Wine and champagne lovers are also catered for, and if you’re female, you can take advantage of 22 Kitchen’s weekly Ladies Night, where selected cocktails and sparkling wine flow freely for two hours, and which has become a highlight of the Bangkok social calendar.
