In a city of skyscrapers and sultry cocktail bars, it is definitely an honor to be able to call yourself the “highest bar in Bangkok”, let alone one which is headed up by a team of master mixologists. Distil manages both these feats and then some. From its sophisticated interior featuring polished wood floors, low lighting and ever-so-soft leather armchairs to the spacious outdoor terrace with enviable views of the whole city skyline, Distil is a destination bar unlike any other. Firstly: the drinks. Distil’s innovative cocktail list changes with the seasons but always manages to surprise and delight with its concoctions that include flavoured ice, foams, gels and mists. A couple of the most recent mouthwatering creations include the My Cup Of Tea (vodka, herbal liqueur, aloe vera, a sachet of green tea and a dehydrated lemon wedge, all poured over wild honey & green tea flavoured ice cubes) and the Tropical Bliss (gin, lemon juice and carbonated lime in a passionfruit powder-rimmed glass, all served with ice cubes made of jackfruit, mango and diffused dry apples). If cocktails aren’t your thing, you can easily turn your attention to Distil’s huge selection of premium, and sometime exclusive, spirits (mainly whiskies, vodkas and brandies) – not to mention the bar’s walk-in wine cellar, home to the best wines and champagnes from around the world. And if all this imbibing and soaking in the city sights makes you hungry, you can enjoy fresh oysters and sushi from the in-house Oyster Bar, or hand-pick your own artisanal cheese platter from the highest cheese cellar in Thailand. Yes, apparently that’s a thing…and a delicious one at that.
