Lava Gold Club
May 11, 2018
Despite being surrounded by other nightlife options, Lava Gold is the go-to club on the Khao San Road. Located in the basement of the Bayon Building, right in the heart of the backpacker Mecca, this glamorous, scarlet-hued underground venue has hip, stylish décor that’s more than matched by its hip clientele. House and Hip-Hop are played on a superior sound system, and there are some pretty spectacular lighting and laser shows to go with it. The atmosphere is jumping, without ever feeling like a meat market. The crowd is young, international both locals and tourists – and out to have a good time. You’ll find backpackers wearing very little and hip-hop kids dripping bling and baggy pants all being served by suggestively dressed waitresses. Cocktails are well-made, if perhaps a little expensive by Bangkok standards, but you can always opt for a beer and shake off some of the noise and hustle of the city while chilling out on the terrace. The late night venue stays open until 3am, with things really kicking off after about 11pm, and it gets particularly busy on weekends the dance floor is not big, so be prepared to get a little hot and sweaty with your fellow revellers. With regular DJ events, club nights and special events, this is one of Bangkoj’s most authentic Hip-Hop clubs, and you’re pretty much guaranteed a great night whenever you turn up. Oh, and entry is free leaving you with a bit of spare cash to spend on an extra cocktail or two.
