The Pump Room
May 11, 2018
The Pump Room restaurant sits adjacent to the beautiful and historic roman baths is the perfect place to book for a lovely afternoon tea or champagne celebration. Based in the 1795 Georgian buildings, the Pump Room is a traditional and beautiful experience that you will not want to miss. Big Corinthian columns sit elegantly inside, along with giant crystal chandeliers. Don’t forget to get a picture by the fountain, it contains spa water that used to heat the roman baths!
Live music accompanies you at your lunch date in the Pump Room, with performances from the Pump Room trio and pianist, who play each day. It is open for breakfast, brunch and a late lunch as well as having the option of champagne tea. Definitely try the bath buns which are made with sweet yeast and have a sugary centre. If you’re visiting for breakfast, we recommend getting the Crème fraîche and berries, and for lunch we suggest the whole baked plaice served with parsley potatoes, buttered leek, samphire and butter sauce. A must for desert is the Peach and elderflower cheesecake that is drizzled with ginger crème anglaise!
No matter what time you are at the Pump Room we do highly suggest ordering some Jasmine Star Tea, as the tea comes from the mountains of Fuji, and are infused with fresh jasmine blossoms.
