Zemun Quay, which runs parallel with the right bank of the Danube, is one of the loveliest and liveliest spots in Belgrade. In addition to the numerous cafes and restaurants that line the walk, the floating bars and clubs at the river’s edge are one of the most appealing aspects of nightlife in Serbia’s capital city. One of the best of these is Amphora, a glamorous spot that’s just as good for a relaxed afternoon coffee and cake as it is for an evening drink before hitting one of Belgrade’s many bars and clubs. Inside, Amphora is an upscale experience roomier and more elegant than some of its neighbouring bars, with high ceilings, painted murals adorning the walls and stylish tables and chairs. The service is unobtrusive and efficient, the atmosphere is laidback and relaxed and a wide variety of wines and spirits add to the ambience. Befitting its location, the restaurant menu offers both sea and river fish dishes as well as cuisine from other countries. The quality of the locally sourced food is of a high standard and if you have a sweet tooth the desserts are delicious. This is the perfect place to go if you want a classy escape from the hustle and bustle of the streets. Step outside and a lovely wooden terrace offers spectacular views of the Danube and cosy sofas and armchairs in which to sip a cocktail and watch the boats go by as the sun sets on a warm summer’s evening.
