Caffe bar Majik
May 11, 2018
Majik is one of the most attractive bar-restaurants in Belgrade, located at the beating heart of the Serbia’s capital city. Designed by renowned architect Karim Rashid, this award-winning space is a work of art in its own right. In place of hard lines and angles is a flowing design. The walls shimmer between colours, the ceiling lights resemble chrysalis and the space curves fluidly around the bar and dining area. It’s one of the most stimulating places you’re ever likely to visit. The windows are made of pink glass and a scrolling LED message board allows customers to display text messages on the walls. Unsurprisingly, Majik attracts Belgrade’s trendiest inhabitants and visitors, from artists and media types to PR professionals and celebrities both domestic and international. In keeping with its seamless surroundings, the restaurant menu blends dishes from across the world. Fusion food is the order of the day here, with a selection of options that includes veal cutlet with mint cream sauce. But to be honest, the food feels like something of an afterthought. It’s solid international fare, but nothing flashy or really worth writing home about. You’re much better off ordering a cocktail, glass of wine or mixer from the glamorous staff, grabbing a seat and just soaking up your astonishing surroundings. This place is all about image but what an image. It’ll sear itself onto your retinas, guaranteeing that your first visit won’t be your last. Local DJs perform sets on a daily basis in the evenings.
