Despite the name, this is actually one of the smarter spots in Friedrichshain, an area which has been somewhat resistant to gentrification and the wave of swanky bars evident elsewhere in the city.

Despite the name, this is actually one of the smarter spots in Friedrichshain, an area which has been somewhat resistant to gentrification and the wave of swanky bars evident elsewhere in the city. It provides an antidote to the happy-hour, sugar rush excess of the Simon-Dach-Strasse and is stuffed with comfy sofas on which to recline with a drink in hand. It’s still a bit of a dive, with its bare brick walls, but the ambience is relaxed and friendly and the cocktails a cut above what’s available elsewhere in the neighbourhood. These guys know their drinks and it shows. Cocktails are well presented and pack a punch (in a good way). DJs hit the decks on weekends when the bar fills up with a hip young crowds out to let their hair down. There are a few outdoor tables for lounging on warmer evenings.
