The Charlottenburg branch of Dominik Galander’s mini liquid empire exudes vintage charm with its stucco and cornices and chandeliers, its wood-panelling and its Parisian posters on the walls. Located on the bustling Stuttgarter Platz, the atmospheric space is overseen by dapper bar tenders in black and white serving classic cocktails to an appreciative local crowd. The menu abounds with Golden Age drinks like the Porto Flip a potent mix of port and brandy a classic Manhattan, the Paloma, a tart mix of tequila and grapefruit, and the Keep It Simple, an aromatic drink made with rosemary infused Havana Club. It’s evident that a real level of care and attention to detail has gone into the making of these cocktails, which is something we always appreciate. The menu meanwhile in another playful touch – gives the appearance of being a leather-bound book, but actually takes the form of a tablet. The staff clearly know their stuff and there’s a decent range of beers and wines available too. This is the ideal neighbourhood bar in many ways, a stylish place with a degree of real elegance and character that’s also friendly and welcoming – with some real skill on display behind the bar.
