Part of the lounge-and-sofa Living Room franchise that includes top spots in Manchester, Nottingham, Liverpool and London (Islington and Smithfields). For a “chain” they still manage to look individual and classy, this Regency Wharf spot on down-home Broad Street being the “jewel in the crown”, drawing in an older thirty something professional crowd of city types and socialites. The menu in the 170-seater restaurant does everything from burgers to monkfish, but try out the drinks menu in the main bar. The Basil Grande house special, a unique mix of Grand Marnier, cranberry juice and strawberry with, er… basil and black pepper, served in a martini glass, seemed particularly popular with the in-crowd. A thousand delectably boozy Birmingham babes can’t all be wrong, can they?
