Andres Carne de Res

Andre Carne is something of an institution. The restaurant opened its doors in 1984 and quickly established itself as one of the best places to eat and drink in Bogota. Located on the outskirts of the city, it’s a vibrant, colourful place, humming with life and laughter. Its walls are covered with Colombian ornaments and knick knacks. No surface is left bare everywhere you look there are sepia-tinted photographs and old religious icons. The clutter is part of the appeal and the place, as you may gather, is not short on atmosphere. Food and drink might feel in danger of being afterthoughts but everything is well done. Meat is the main event here, with steaks flown in from Argentina. The salad bar abounds with a spectacular array of fresh fruits and veg and the drinks have an agreeable kick.
