Huerta

An artisan cocktail bar in the heart of bustling Bogota, Huerta boldly declares that they are aiming to “change the world, one cocktail at a time”; and after one sip of their collection, you’ll see why we think they are well on their way to accomplishing this bold goal. Located within the BioHotel Organic Suites in the Usaquén district, (the first completely self-sustainable hotel in Colombia), Huerta is like nothing else in the city as they use the hotel’s self-sufficiency for inspiration to grow their own plants and exclusively use recycled materials for their decor (think weathered wooden crates, rustic door frames, and spindly tree branches). Most impressively, Huerta is home to an onsite garde, that at last count is growing more than 700 plants from over 120 different species. Huerta uses this plentiful stock in their cocktails, often hand-picking ingredients in the afternoon that are then blended into beverages in the evening. The cocktail menu is always changing based on the seasons, but a few of our recent favorites are the Andes Smash – bourbon, Andean blackberry, cinnamon, basil, and bitters; the Garden Mule – premium vodka, ginger elixir, watermelon, tarragon and soda; and the Flor de Jalisco – tequila infused with pepper, passion fruit elixir, and salt. In addition, craft beer is poured and sharing punches are concocted for a cool crowd, who mingles to the sounds of smooth DJs. Credit Photo: https://www.facebook.com/huertabarbog/photos
