Based in Boston’s Four Seasons Hotel, the Bristol Lounge Bar is a chic, relaxed (if high end) space where you can relax on comfortable couches or hide away in booths enjoying a well-made martini, a glass of quality wine or a beer that comes from one of the city’s own brewers. Bar snacks are good quality: think treats such as crispy tuna rolls, smoked sable tacos or short rib crostini, and there’s also a raw bar should you fancy it (we’d recommend the Seafood Sampler why limit yourself to just one choice?). There are promotions run regularly: we like the sound of Burgundy and Burger Wednesdays, where you can match your burger to, yes, a Burgundy, or Fizz Fridays, where each glass of bubbles comes with a free amuse bouche or mark your calendars for First Fridays, which have complimentary tastings. If you fancy something heartier, the Bristol Lounge serves top flight comfort food under the auspices of Executive Chef Brooke Vosika, such as house-made pastas, quality steaks and burgers, and gourmet salads they also do high tea and a Sunday brunch. The décor is stylish, though slightly outshone by the floor to ceiling windows that look out into the Public Gardens (we’re sorry, but no amount of interior design ever matches a lovely view). It’s obviously not the cheapest spot, and attracts a well-heeled crowd of travellers , tourists and locals, whether it’s just to enjoy a mid-morning coffee, a business lunch or a cocktail before heading off into town. Dress smart casual at the very least, as scruffy just won’t cut it in settings like these.
