You might think that being squashed between two buildings much larger in size might have made No 32 shrink away meekly. Instead, the charcoal grey building exudes class and charm and even goes the extra mile by transforming from a restaurant and bar during the day into a buzzing live music space and club in the evenings.
If the weather’s nice, No 32 has plenty of exterior seating to choose from, with a wide terrace out front and a comfy outdoor balcony on the mezzanine level. Despite that, the interior is charmingly vintage and eclectic, featuring large leather sofas, industrial-style light fixtures and a very impressive chandelier that drips down from the level above. The drinks menu at No 32 is filled with an exciting array of cocktails ranging from the classics (martinis, manhattans, sours and daiquiris all get a look in), to some innovative house concoctions. A couple of our favorites are the zesty Lemon Tart (citron vodka, limoncello, orange liqueur and coconut syrup) and the Strawberry Brunette (vanilla vodka, strawberries, balsamic vinegar and ginger beer), but there’s usually at least one new “cocktail of the week”, and the bar staff are more than adept at whipping up your favorite tipple. Beers come in both craft and draught, while the wine list is like a who’s who of international favourites.
When it comes to the food, No 32 specializes in grilled meats and fish, sharing platters, burgers and steaks, but they also serve a hearty daily brunch. And after you’ve partaken in their daily Happy Hour drinks specials, you might just decide that a spot of grub is just what the doctor ordered.Credit Photo: https://www.instagram.com/no.32dukestreet/
