Like a lot of bars, Om has raided the cultural dressing up box and named itself after sacred syllable. A great cocktail lounge, Om’s references to the Far East are intelligent and respectful. As you cross the threshold, past the great wooden doors, you are greeted by a Buddhist statue and in the lounge on the ground floor, there are bed-like seats into which to sink, a real Bamboo grove, and several pictures of Hindu Gods. Om’s signature cocktails stand are inspired by the Far East. The chili infused martini deserves a mention, as does the Vishnu, a heady blend of Arabian spices, lemongrass and cardamom mixed with tequila, fresh lime and sugar, served straight up on the rocks. As concept bars go, Om is a triumph.
