Located in the former Hanbury Ballroom, the Brighton outpost of Proud Cabaret from the team behind the popular Proud venues in London has transformed the historic and atmospheric space into a stylish supper club with a retro-glam vibe and an enticing programme of burlesque, cabaret and live music, making it ideal for a sparkly, alternative, and very Brighton night out. Hosting a diverse range of club nights and live performance, its attractions are many and varied. Inside it’s a deep boudoir red with a stage area and tables arranged cabaret-style around the room. There’s also an extensive cocktail and wine list and a tempting food menu for the full supper club experience. It’s the kind of place people dress up for, donning their gladdest rags, their dancing shoes if you have some leopard print or glitter hiding in your wardrobe, a flapper dress or a natty hat maybe, now’s the time to bring it out. Barrel-roll your hair and break out the crimson lippy. They host Blitz parties, 1920s nights, murder mysteries, cabaret evenings care of the Black Cat, with the programme changing frequently so check the website to see what’s on.
