The New Club

One whole wall is taken up with a mural depicting a New York apartment block, which is fitting since an American influence is very evident at this hip new spot overlooking the seafront. There are studded red leather banquettes and standard-issue exposed brickwork while the food comes in trendy enamelware dishes. Bourbon and rye feature prominently on the drinks list and they serve an array of cocktails including a classic New York Sour, and an Eastbound and Down, made with wasabi-infused vodka to create a drink with plenty of kick. Their Bloody Mary features bacon-infused vodka and they also offer a Pickleback, a measure of bourbon chased with a shot of pickle brine a la Pitt Cue. Bourbon flights are available for the curious and/or indecisive and there are no prizes for guessing that the beer list features Brooklyn lager. There are similar influences evident in the food menu which boasts an open sandwich of house-smoked pulled pork served with a deep purple slaw; true meat freaks have to try their Dirty Burger, an epic affair served pink on a fashionable brioche bun with hickory smoked onion, bacon relish, cheese, and sliced pickle. Burgers are a big deal here but they also offer fish tacos, house-cured pastrami and salt and pepper squid. Their soft peanut butter cookie sandwich sounds all kinds of awesome so be sure to bring a big appetite.
