Recently named best small bar in Brisbane, Canvas is the work of Marco and Emily Nunes, Bonnie Shearston and Tom Sanceau. Together they have created an incredibly appealing venue. It’s an attractive space with distinctive wall art by local street artists and a stylish onyx bar behind which skilled bartenders mix original cocktails – like the Great Escape, a refreshing blend of gin, grape, elderflower and mint – and carve ice from the block. The bar also stocks an intriguing array of boutique wines and quality spirits, including absinthe served in the traditional fashion. The kitchen serves moreish small plates and the mood is intimate, hip and sophisticated yet not excessively so.
