A libertine by definition defies convention. If you answer to this description, this place may well be for you. With chandeliers and gold-leaf walls, timber floors and artfully strewn cushions, the mood is by turns intimate and hedonistic. A luxurious sofa wraps around the bar and leads to an even cosier room. As the shadows of the candles flicker against the ruby red walls, it feels as if you have inadvertently entered an opium den. The beautiful people sip cocktails in the separate lounge before taking their seats to sample chef Ryan Crawford’s French-Vietnamese fare. Rest assured that the bar staff are more than equal to the high standard set in the kitchen. Tamara’s Libertini, for example, is a delicious ode to gin with lychee and grapefruit. Small wonder then that this compelling marriage of cocktails and chopsticks has lured so many social butterflies, and one hopes it will continue to do so.
