This low-key Clifton Village bar is one of Bristol’s hidden gems. Spread over two floors, Amoeba has carved out a niche for itself as a purveyor of decent drinks and tasty nibbles. Tucked away down a side street, the bar has a pleasantly mellow vibe with vaguely retro furnishings and a dinky little patio at the back.
The bar food is above average and they serve a great array of Belgian beers. By day it makes a great lunch spot, but in the evening the mood shifts subtly and it becomes altogether funkier.
The crowd is made up mainly of young professionals, with a good sprinkling of students, and occasional open mic nights liven up what is already a deeply appealing small bar.
