Her Majesty's Secret Service
May 11, 2018
Situated on the site of the old Charlie’s Bar, Her Majesty Secret Service conjures up an atmosphere of wartime espionage, Fleming and Le Carre. The masculine retro decor, all polished oak and aged leather sets the tone. There’s a picture of Churchill on the wall and the menus take the form of passports. The drinks list includes house cocktails, a range of punches and some non-alcoholic ‘faux-tails’. Presentation errs on the side of the quirky, cocktails served in dinky watering cans or take out cartons, but they’re the real deal, the latter a smooth mix of Jim Beam, Ginger and Plum, Yuzu Juice and Matcha Tea. they do excellent versions of the Mint Julep and the Sherry Cobbler, if you’re with a group they do a few epic punchbowl cocktails designed for sharing. The music is on the cheesy side but we’re fine with that.
