Hotel du Vin and Bistro
May 11, 2018
We don’t normally do ‘chains’ or ‘restaurants’ per se, but when they have a decent bar or two and the surroundings are as comfortable and stylish as this we can make an exception. Sure it’s not NY in look or feel but does it have to be? This old town Bristol sugar warehouse is warm and rustic but thankfully convincing too. The old beams, stripped floors and well spaced vast sofas are made for a long afternoon of dozing although the deftly made cocktails soon put paid to any thoughts of sleep! Besides, that’s best left until you take one of the forty luxurious bedrooms. In fact if you’re visiting Bristol and want to explore the old docks as much as Clifton and the suspension bridge, Hotel du Vin makes a great base. The one doubt is whether you’ll ever get round to stepping outside it’s walls.
