Located in a historic harbour-side building, behind an unmarked door, Milk Thistle has the air of an English country house, all wood-panelling and inviting armchairs. The bar staff know what they’re doing and can knock up some fantastic drinks. The signature Milk Thistle Daisy is a winning mix of gin, lemon juice and spiced pear syrup finished with a dash of fizz, and the Any Port in a Storm, a blend of spiced rum, ruby port, lime juice, Demerara syrup, lime sherbet, Angostura bitters and soda, is a fitting tribute to the area’s maritime past. The emphasis is on sophistication and refinement and their Milk and Honey-style house rules keep things on track.
