A swanky subterranean drinking den in Bristol, Red Light seduces with top-of-the-line cocktails and a properly polished environment to sip them in.
Finding your way into Red Light is the first part of the fun, but you have to know where to look first. Outside a graffiti-covered door down a Bristol sidestreet, you’ll find a dodgy-looking old payphone with a glowing red light hanging above it. It is at this spot where you must go against your instincts and pick the receiver up, and, press it to your ear. On the other end of the line, a member of staff from Red Light will signal you in (they’ve been watching the proceedings on CCTV the whole time, you see), and your cocktail adventure will begin. Next, you’ll glide downstairs past a buzzing neon sign that simply says “Sex” (stay with us, we promise it gets better), and into a sumptuous cocktail bar that evokes the panache and class of decades past.
Art Deco touches, red velvet chairs and chaise lounges, vintage radios, and a staff decked out in suspenders set the tone at Red Light, and the cocktail card follows suit with playful concoctions inspired by both bygone eras and up-to-the-minute trends. Make note that the intimate space Red Light resides in fills up fast, so it’s definitely recommended to make a reservation – especially on the weekends.
