OK, it’s a hotel bar and therefore has that faintly anonymous hotel bar feel. There’s nothing particularly Romanian about Intermezzo at the Intercontinental; you could be anywhere in the world. But it’s more atmospheric than many of its ilk, the combination of drinks, live piano music and warm conversation making it sophisticated and inviting. It’s a good spot for an intimate tipple before heading out for the evening or to wind down after dinner. The presence of the piano gives it an edge, as does its eventful communist era history.
