El Bistro

El Bistro is the deceptively simply named bar and restaurant of the stylish Faena Hotel and Universe (It’s not just a hotel, you see, it’s a hotel and universe). Part of that universe is this Philippe Starck designed space. It’s dramatic and formal and very, very white accented with splashes of red, in stark contrast to the rest of the hotel. At the same time it’s not austere, displaying the Frenchman’s usual visual playfulness (there are even unicorns). The chef is a protégé of El Bulli’s Ferran Adria, which might give you some idea of what to expect from the kitchen. The French influenced dishes are highly creative and the same level of attention is lavished on the drinks. Prices err on the ‘European’ side but for an experience of this caliber they’re more than worth it.
