The Back Room (TBR)
May 11, 2018
Taking inspiration from the some of the most famous secret bars of New York, The Back Room – or TBR as it is called by those in the know – has instantly become one of the most stylish standard bearers of the lively Busan nightlife scene. Like many of its contemporaries, The Back Room is reached through a secret passageway, making arriving feeling like an accomplishment in itself. Once inside, you won’t necessarily be whisked back to another era, as The Back Room is a more modern take on the speakeasy, with sleek and on-trend accents lining the walls and bar. Speaking of the bar, the staff working behind it are experts in doing all the little things that add up to a truly exquisite cocktail, and they pour many brands of liquor hard to find other places in town. Well-known for its selection of bubbly cocktails that add a flirtatious feeling to an evening like the Classic Champagne (cognac, sparkling wine, and sweet sugar cube all garnished with lemon zest), it’s the renditions of classics like moscow mules (theirs is called the TBR Mule), mojitos, martinis, and dozens of others that have drawn the most acclaim to The Back Room. Throw in weekly jazz nights, a unique multi-course cocktail and food combination menu, and an available membership club, and you have an address, albeit a slightly hidden one, like nothing else in town.
