Buena Vista social Cafe

Atmosphere is what matters most at the Buena Vista, Cape Town’s lively Cuban-style bar. The owners have attempted to replicate a little bit of Havana in Greenpoint and have managed to do so without the place feeling like a cheesy theme bar. The interior is suitably rustic with wooden tables and chairs, stripped floorboards, battered leather couches and a small scattering of photos and ornaments; it’s endearingly cluttered without being so stuffed it could double as a museum. The food is inventive and tasty and clearly cocktails play a large part in proceedings. They serve spot on daiquiris and mojitos as well as other rum-based drinks Hemingway would be very happy here. Latino music plays in the background and the whole place has a vibrant, colourful feel.
