Tired of staid "Colonial" style bars? Library Blu, in the Leela Palace Chennai feels like a space-age nightclub, but offers quiet luxury, fine wine and spirits.

It’s right there in the name: almost everything in this trendy “deco space station nightclub” is blue: The back-lit wall panels, the contemporary leather and wood furnishings, the recessed ceiling lighting. Even the floor glows blue! The trend-forward bar with Erte-like bronze statues and Space Age chandeliers is instantly inviting and smileworthy. Sit at the (blue) under-lit bar and order from a list of single malts, fine wines or attractive signature cocktails, including an entire section devoted to Martini variations. Low-key instrumental pop and jazz on the playlist, and an array of push sofas means you can actually hold a civil conversations with a date or a group of friends. Small bites range from Indian staples like chicken tikka to surprises like a quesadilla with guacamole (veg and non-veg options available), and everyone receives a complimentary tray of olives, cashews and peanuts. Added bonus: window seating offers views of Bay of Bengal and Adyar River.
