Norman’s Bistro
Chicago-Hyde Park
May 11, 2018
There’s so much about Norman’s Bistro that we like. This high-end eatery and wine bar showcases inventive American Creole cooking with a Brazilian twist. The welcome is friendly and we particularly enjoy the wine bar area in the back, with its exposed brick and smart artwork, which boasts a great selection of wines alongside a good range of domestic beers as well as their signature martinis. Popular with south-side professionals, the main dining space is also worth spending time in, with a menu including tasty dishes like Shrimp, Chicken and Lobster Gumbo and Cajun Catfish. Their duck burger is a thing of beauty and their Caribbean flatbread also looks exciting. Brunch is where this place really excels: inventive plates include their Hawaiian French Toast Platter, their home-made biscuits served with steak, eggs and gravy, and their sweet potato pancakes served by the stack. It’s unlikely you’ll need to eat for the rest of the day.
